Zifta wastewater treatment plant in Gharbia Governorate - Egypt

The Zifta wastewater treatment plant is part of the infrastructure development projects under the presidential initiative for rural development in Egypt, "Decent Life," with a capacity of 10,000 cubic meters per day.

Currently operating at 20,000 m³/day, expansions are underway to increase its capacity to 30,000 m³/day. It serves approximately 80,000 residents in three villages: Sandabast, Kobri El-Ashra, and Ezbet El-Set Galfdan, through a 66-kilometer gravity sewer network and a 4-kilometer force main.

The project comprises:
Integrated stations and units including the inlet and screens, primary sedimentation basins, aeration basins, distribution chambers, final sedimentation basins, a primary sludge pumping station, an air blower building, an electrical building, a generation building, a chlorination building, a recycled and excess sludge pumping station, sludge concentration basins, a central sludge pumping station, sludge drying basins, a contact basin, and a sludge outfall. This allows the plant to treat wastewater with high efficiency and fully cover the targeted villages. The project aims to fully deliver sanitation services to the targeted areas and improve the quality of facilities provided to citizens, ensuring a healthy, safe, and sustainable environment. It reflects the state's commitment to implementing infrastructure projects according to the highest technical and engineering standards.
